Flashing Front Light

Finish work at 3pm, light level is pretty poor and it's raining, so put the lights on so drivers can see me. Got about 2 miles into my 5 mile commute and traffic became horrendous and was crawling, So for some reason i switched the front light to flashing mode and bingo it was as if the red sea parted.

I genuinely could not believe how many drivers made the effort to move over slightly enabling me to get through. To the Mini Driver all the way through to the Subaru Impreza, I thank you all.

Still not sure why the traffic was so bad today , but hey I'm in the house ! ! !

It's not a blue flashing light is it .

As far as I remember white LED's are actually blue LEDs with I think a filter to make them look white.

I had my 2 front lights on flash yesterday at 2.30pm it was that wet and gloomy,timed it so they were both flashing alternately too,seemed to make a difference.
Amazingly today at 1pm I was thinking I'd need my sunglasses on the way home,an hour later it was pouring down again,3 days 3 wet commutes

Most drivers will move over when they're sat in a queue to allow a cyclist or a motorbike past. However, there's always one 'tit' who will deliberatly block your way.

Rather worryingly, does this mean that drivers can't see you approaching when your light isn't flashing?

I thought white LEDs were UV ones which hit phosphor that radiates white light.

Been thinking about that sitting here in the house , and I've decided to " borrow " the light off my sons bike so i can have that set on flashing

My Maxx D has the same effect, when set to flash, I think because it is so bright it confuses peep into thinking there is something big bearing down on them

I assume that in a sea of lights in someone's mirror you can easily be mistaken for a vehicle's headlight, with a light flashing then people can see both where you are and that you're a bike and pick you out in the view of blackpool illuminations they see in the mirror

I use a front flasher all the time now. Tired drovers can't miss them.

According to the font of all knowledge, Wikipedia, white LED's are actually Blue/UV LED's with yellow phosphor covering.

I always use my lights on flashing mode. I think that it really singles you out as a cyclist.

No other form of transport (that I know of) uses flashing white lights and I feel that's an advantage!

I use a flasher and a steady on the rear too!

Have two rears - one flashing/one static and two led fronts. With the fronts use both flashing if foggy and light / if dark and in traffic one flashing, one static and if on country roads both static full beam.

I'm realiably informed by my missus (who I was following the other day) that my lights are quite bright as she then had little orange spots in front of her eyes) whenever she looked in the rear view mirror. Might have to adjust them down a little
