I know they're annoying, but i noticed a really distinct lack of any flying insects in Greenwich park last week over the course of several days, coupled with a lot of the birds looking a bit skinny it's a bit concerning. As much as I enjoyed eating my jam sarnies unmolested, if this is going to be the new normal then we're going to be in trouble in a couple of decades from now!

Generally, I have noticed a huge decrease in flying insects for many years, including flies.
Either that or they have got better at avoiding the windscreen and front of my cars.

I've only had one fly in my flat this summer, but as I post it's still here, driving me crazy! It's been here for three days now, buzzing me, landing on me, tempting me to swat it etc! I really hate it and want to kill it, but I can't get to it!🤨 I had a few fruit flies here the other day, but they seem to have disappeared after I put the softening bananas I had that were attracting them on my outside window bottom. They aren't much of a problem as they aren't dirty devils like those metallic green flies that land on dog shoot en masse before it's fully fallen out of a dog's arse! They really are filthy, disgusting things!🧐

I thought the thing might've died or left through a window, but now I'm not too sure! Last night it was really getting to me by buzzing my right ear and landing on me! So much so that I developed weird thoughts that it was a reincarnation of something or even someone I've had an altercation with in the past. It's getting to my little dog as well as he keeps snapping at it, something he's never done with flies before. I sprayed some fly spray last night, but the spray is a few years old, so it came out in drops that fell to the floor, more than a spray that lingered in the air. I hate using the stuff as it must contain stuff that's harmful to humans and pets, albeit in a small dose. As I post I keep hearing it buzzing my right ear, wondering if I'm now imagining it. If I could capture it I would do it some serious harm as in probably decapitate it after torturing it, like it's been torturing me! I thought the evil things only lived for 3 or 4 days, but on looking it up it says 10 to 15 days, depending on the climate and habitat and if the habitat is warm and food can be found they can live for much longer!🙄

I got it! Only a minute after placing some fly paper in my kitchen it landed on it. As I post, three hours later it's still alive.🙄 It had three days to exit my flat through either of my four open for many hours a day windows, but instead it chose to stay here to seriously hassle me, so what else could I do?🤷

That fly paper is much more sticky than I thought it'd be! I thought it'd be like the bit on an envelope you wet then press down to seal it, but it's more like the glue used to stick plastic floor tiles down! I touched it when trying to pin the paper as high as I could in my kitchen. On grabbing my bottle of washing up liquid to wash it off, the bottle stuck to my fingers, taking a fair bit of effort to release it. The glue would not wash of my fingers, needing a kitchen knife to scrape it off! No wonder flies can't release themselves from it, when it's so difficult to get it off your fingers, and the washing up liquid bottle for that matter!

I saw this one yesterday on top of my microwave oven. After a minute or so I noticed it wasn't moving, so I took this photo of it. Notice how it doesn't seem to have any wings!! Does that make it a 'walk', rather than a fly?🤔
