MWahahahahahahahahahahahah (wipes the tears away)....

Sorry it was the idea of me attempting to TEC or signpost... snarf.

You'd be surprised. You've done the ride several times, so are probably more capable than you think, and know how things work, which is more than many new riders.

As regards signposting, at the start of the ride, before we've spread out too much, it's not much effort to get back to the start, and you don't have to sprint back to be ready with a few minutes, you can just gradually work you're way back chatting to people and enjoying yourself as you do.

I've only occasionally done any signposting, these days there are normally far more volunteers than Simon needs, and it doesn't have to be a series of short sprints, unless you want it to be.

I'd recommend it less at the end of the ride, since you can sometimes find yourself with a 20 minute wait as the ride trickles past, and consequently stuck at the end of the queue for breakfast.

Phew, that was lucky.

Having bought Reg (my Sirrus) some new shoes of the Schwalbe marathon variety I discovered what was about to be a puncture in my rear inner tube. Lucky or what!

Is humane necessary in this instance? Would it not be kinder in the long run for the punning gene to be clinically removed?

In which case you'll need a gene 'hackman' - I don't give them away you know.

Hmmm thanks. I see it goes close to railway stations. And what will the average rolling speed be to Rochester about 12 or 13mph?

The average rolling speed will be about that. Not so sure the trains run all night, but you won't have to worry about bailing. You can only give up if you have an accident - didn't you read the small print of the T&C??
