"This could all go horribly wrong, but we'll give it a try"

Thursday 6th August, first light, departure from Hull, destination Colchester, might not make it in one stint, possible overnight somewhere? (East Anglia?)

Friday 7th August, finish ride into Colchester at some point, if not already there. Riding with a friend who's parents live there, he's staying on for a family do. Leave Colchester Friday evening, destination HPC for 23:30.

Saturday 8th August, 00:01 (or whenever) depart to Bognor, arriving in the morning. Swim all been well if the weather is nice, and brekkie. Depart with The Mouseketeers back to London.

16:30 train from Kings Cross to Hull already booked.

370 miles / 600 km minimum dependant on exact route.

Bike for the job - fixed of course!!!!!!

Wow - can't keep up with this speed of posting. Mr & Mrs Paddington can bearly wait to join up, so please count us in Simon, and we will be there this time. Hoping also to join MacB et al on the way back to Haslemere, where we will head off to Guildford. Off to France between now and then, hoping to chase down the Tour in the Alps.

Simon and Clive it will be great to see you both and hopefully it will be the start of a lot of miles over the next year. Have not had much time in the saddle, have had to do too much research.

Here's to the 7th.

Colin.

see list on next page...

that's a bit over 30. (later edit) I've spoken to Mark at the Cabin Cafe, and he can cope with 80 which is probably my limit provided we have enough experienced riders. I'll be sending out a SWLDA mailshot at the beginning of next week. So............. we have a bit of breathing space, particularly if you've done it before, but I do expect to be turning new riders away a couple of weeks before the event.

When's the latest I can let you know? The decision hangs on an engagement not yet confirmed but compulsory if it goes ahead!

Hope you can make it. Just been reading your blog (interesting reading). Comment I must take issue with, though: "And despite the fact I ride a man's bike with large wheels and they're on a foldable with a wheel diameter equivalent to a yo-yo they still think they'll go faster than I do".
Small bike wheels accelerate faster and are lighter and stronger than equivalent 26"/700C ones. And myself & the chaps on the Brompton & Moulton APB were outrunning and outclimbing quite a few people Friday night...

Nice blog weenie! Why don't you copy that into the ride thread and let everyone see it? C'mon, you have done the lycra bit now, a few words isn't going to hurt now, is it?

Don't worry about Stu either...he's a serious cyclist eh Stu? (Only teasing only teasing - don't want to damage my chance of cake on your birthday :o)
