Leeds seems to be the problem now. Rang the "help" line who were most unhelpful. Is my train running? don't know.
Can you help? You can get compensation.

Hopeless.

Am at King's Cross. There are many people starting at the boards but almost all trains appear to be running on time. The next seven trains on the board (in the first class lounge ahem) are either on time or boarding now.
Most importantly the 7pm to Edinburgh is on time and now boarding which suggests the line to York and beyond is open and all is well.

And relax......

Still part of the team !
Ali C and Mark McM have decided not to ride; the train before theirs is cancelled so they'll probably struggle to get two bikes onboard.
Over-crowding is my biggest worry as well but there's only 1 of me and I'll be getting on at the 1st stop (albeit the train is coming from the airport).

Andrew - what time do you expect to get to Leeds?

I might join your 'pelican' if the situation doesn't improve.

All looking good out of King's cross. About to leave. Me, Gordon and Nick on the train. Also some other bikes.

I'm due into Leeds at 22.06. The train is due to leave Manchester Piccadilly at 21.05 if you are tracking it.
I'm hoping I'll get lucky and make it all the way to York; if not, you're very welcome to join me but don't expect navigation perfection....

They cancelled my perfectly good train in the time it took to ride to Mordor Central, presumably because they needed to send it back to the West Country. Their best (read: only) suggestion was the delayed 19:57 to Manchester Piccadilly. "Manchester?" says I, "doesn't that mean I'd have to go via Leeds?" "Probably." says Brummie Train Bloke, evidently ignorant of matters north of Stoke-on-Trent or south of Watford Gap "...Which is also a clusterfark?" says I, pressing the point. I received the Shrug Of Doubt and wandered off to fiddle with the interwebs in search of further enlightenment.

The interwebs suggested that I had a slim chance of a connection via the last sardine tin to Huddersfield, and an optimistic direct train from Victoria that would get me to York a few minutes late for the start, if it wasn't cancelled like all the other ones. On the basis that this was highly likely to end in either a Friday Night Ride to the Mother-In-Law's or a Friday Night Ride Up The Hill Out Of Huddersfield, I decided not to go to Manchester, as it is a silly place.

Hopefully the ride won't suffer too badly through the absence of my magic rainlegs.

As voicemailed to @Gordon P that rattle on/in the Brompton got louder en route to the station and I wasn’t confident that it was just a stone somewhere in the frame, so decided against continuing. Hopefully something nice will balance out the disappointment.

Have a good ride. I’ll have a can or two of Guinness to drown my sorrows and try that delay repay lark.
