I heard a story ages ago but I can't remember where it started.

Woman went to a dentist complaining of a toothache.
Dentist check her records - unlikely to have toothache as she has no teeth, just dentures.
Gets her in the chair, insects her gob only to find a tomato plant is growing underneath the denture - a tomato seed had got lodged and eventually sprouted(!)

You've never worked on a ship have you? You tend to get a bit less picky and avoid looking at veggies that haven't been...'prepared'....by the cook. after a couple of weeks. I have no idea how he gets lettuce and tomatoes to last that long.

As I understand it, the pips of apples are coated in a hard shell. This means that unless you chew the seeds, they will pass through your digestive system quickly and harmlessly. And even if you chewed the seed, the amount released is so small, that a human can quite easily cope with it. Just don't chew loads of them at the same time.

I just wish the ships vacuum toilets coped as well with pips...
