I’m in the local Wetherspoons, all I can overhear is people talking about how to take penalties, that we’re going to win on Saturday, tactics against Columbia...after years of Brexit I can’t remember anyone being this upbeat!

My younger daughter is at some performing arts summer school this week in Glasgow, I have been volunteered to attend their performance thing tomorrow afternoon - if the chaps at Titanic are miffed at strangers watching the England penalties then I'm sure my daughter will be even more so when I'm sitting replying to posts on CC.

would it be fair to say that you support the circumnavigation of the rules to get a result?

I tend to think that diving, faking and rolling around in pretend agony are all part and parcel of the modern game and it is up to the officials to spot it, however, the way some players harass and virtually threaten the referee is a "poison" in the game and needs to be stopped - and yellow/red cards are the easiest and quickest way to stop it.

I cooked a chicken a couple of days ago, and Mrs P wanted to pull the wishbone this evening.

Upon completing said pulling of the wishbone, I was tempted to fall to the floor and roll around for a bit clutching various bits of my body, for comedic effect, in emulation of some of our current talking points in Russia.

I decided against it in the end, on account of I thought I might put my knee out, thus being more injured than the actual players.
