Fork/headset query

Just bought some cheap carbon forks on ebay to replace the horrid forks on my Carrera Valour. However, the steerer tube has its own ball race at the bottom rather than some kind of complete/external headset. The fork is completely flat where it joins the steerer and I've no idea how to make it all fit or what headset or add-on I need to make it all work. Help!

Can you post a pic? Don't really understand what you're saying 'cos these two things seem contradictory. From what you're saying either the forks have a crown race already fitted to them or they're made for an integrated headset.

The frame has an integrated headset and the fork isn't compatible. Doesn't matter, I bit the bullet and took it to my LBS to sort it for me. Lesson learned.
