This reminds me of the motorists who take pity on a young-ish girl hitchhiking in the rain near the A3M at Bedhampton/Waterlooville turn off.
She appears in heavy rain, at a lay-by, soaked through & thumbing a lift.
When a car stops, she gets in the back of the car but won't converse with the driver.
When the driver arrives at the next roundabout, he has to know where she is travelling to, and turns around to ask, but she has completely disappeared.
The car hasn't stopped, the door hasn't been opened, but the car seat is wet..
