Is there any that's any good? I lived in France for three years and seldom heard anything I liked. Saw Les Negresses Vertes at Band on the Wall in Manchester once though and was blown away by their amazing energy and weirdness:

A French colleague once spent 6 months in the UK on training and came back absolutely in love with the whole music scene; he said to me "You British are SO talented!" What really impressed him was the last night at the proms, he bought the CD and never stopped playing it.

That's bizarre! Last Night of the Proms is routinely awful.

I have a nostalgia-tinged fondness for Indochine '3' from the 80s

My dad (who lives in France) was over to fit our new bathroom and I put the iPod in the dock and got some music on the go. It comes round to Manu Chao's Clandestino album and he turns round to me and says "Hey, it's that bloke off the French radio, he's always on!". And he's not wrong. I think it alternates between Manu Chao (which I like) and this song...
