not great - our structural engineer is on the case, but it's uplift, and the cover could be vented. And we think not, but Brighton can confirm. And no - hence the flush plate. Apparently they've been installed elsewhere - that's what gave me the thought.

The other option is those plastic barrels filled with water, but they're not as fancy.

What about moving The Madeira to the covered area, in the form of some sort of mobile catering unit?

... and a bar, with a licence, or am I getting a bit off topic here!

Why not get a scaffolding company to 'sponsor' the erection and tarp it out for the duration("SJ Perks scaffolding are proud to support The Martlets Hospice" etc banner on the seafront for one week +) I presume it is for the 1000 riders on the storm next year...

I've already pulled the scaffold sponsorship thing once.........whatever happened to SGB?

My friend Ron used to work for them and they often sponsored the rugby club - knowingly or unknowingly
Those square commercial umbrellas also span 10m - obviously need a central hole...or what about those concertina type things that are often pulled out to protect footballers from their fans and objets, as they traipse off after yet another dull performance? (There must be plenty of those lying around! )

But what about those people who could appear on the rota under both a real name and a nom de clavier?

They might simply point out that you chose your username unwisely. I feel more of a TC than a Claudine at the moment, whereas I suspect that Dellzeqq is finding his real name expresses who he is right now a little better...
