It has come to my attention that a drop of mulled wine might be more favourably recieved than chilled bubbly. This, of course, is nobody's round but mine, so Claudine and Adrian can safely get to the front of the queue chez moi.

Aperitif chose doubly unwisely in being both an 'A' and the first quaff.

Digestif should really begin with 'Z' I suppose.

I can only be that which I am.

I can think of nothing to say to that. Or at least, nothing that might not be construed as ill-mannered...

Hmmmm. You should undergo serious surgery more often!*

Rich - before you go shopping, perhaps we should take a vote on mulled wine vs bubbly? Don't anyone say my mind isn't on my work...

I hate lifting the list from the spreadsheet, because the formatting takes for ever to sort.... so the list on CC gets a bit patchy when I add or omit bits. Sorry, Ed

Gift horse and mouth aside, I have to say that mulled wine would be unlikely to be my beverage of choice, regarding it as a disgusting adulteration of good wine as I do. I am however mindful of the fact that, the last time I expressed this opinion, it caused a degree of upset when pretty much all the other people who had been politely sipping theirs agreed. Obviously, the last thing I would wish to do would be to cause similar offense to Rich, so I'll not say that I suspect it would be the winter drink of choice for Brighton Street Drinkers but for the fact that they are:
a) Conservative in their tastes and favour cider, and
b) Generally lack the facility to heat the wine.

What on earth made you think Rich was intending to provide good wine?

I can only echo my fellow typography geek Rocío Rødtjær: “I will use Arial when Helvetica freezes over.”

You can see I need to get out more. A loop through Ditchling in honour of Eric Gill?

I don't see an Ed K on the list!

I was on the list but I've got to go to Wales that weekend now
Probably have to go to Bacchus in Crickhowell to get over it

That's very good. Howies once produced a t-shirt with the legend "Helvetica Bold should lighten up", but I failed to get my hands on one...

I bought the bubbly before the chop but it'll keep if it doesn't get glugged. I'll worry it down eventually and christmas is coming.

I'm still mulling over the wine ( ) but rest assured it won't be the fine vintage 'teef sent down to me for medicinal purposes.

Here for rides.

To be fair we do go through Ditchling but can't do a proper spot of typographical admiration as Ditchling isn't on the LNER. Worse luck.

Of course in peecee circles, and few cities are quite as peecee as Brighton & Hove, it is no longer deemed acceptable to admire the works of Mr Gill any more than one may admire those of Mr Paul Gadd.
