Hells bells, 75 participants (plus his leggship), after only a couple of days, and for a ride in October!

65......I hope!

65......I hope!

I'll even wear the same coat as Adam if you would like me to stay at the back and administer rubber smelling salts, Simon. Last run to Whitstable I did nothing but mosey around doing nothing. And the Martlets ride was all taken care of, so...
Best to get these things sorted because it seems there is an entourage drawn by the daybreak activities rather than the ethereal daybreak etc...

FNRttCs are about encouraging people to get out and cycle more, as well as doing it in a silly manner, so I'd hate to think that people are put off too much by the thought of the distances involved. I'm sure Simon has a similar opinion (albeit he probably has to take a more conservative approach!) We've all had to start cycling these distances for the first time, and a lot of regulars on these rides never did a ride of this length, or at night, before trying a FNRttC.

Thanks TimO,

I've done the last two FNRttCs to Brighton, and loved them, especially the wonderful company. My longest ride ever was a couple of weeks ago...67 miles alone in the rain. Two thirds of the way out, morale sank a bit, but nothing that a couple of bananas, a grain bar, and two double expressos couldn't fix. I really missed the "psychological drafting" that I got from the FNRttC crew.

Have fun, and I hope to see you all later.

Doh! Sorry! I've just worked out who you are (the nom d'internet thing is all a bit complicated for me, and I have you down under your nom d'e-mail - and there are a couple of those).

I think you'd make the Whitstable trip without a problem.

news just in - we're going to have an upright tricycle on the ride! This I am really looking forward to!

The speed with which people have signed up for this ride will only be matched by the speed with which they will bail out when a wet, cold and windy October night is forecast by the cat...

@User, I saw Clarion this morning on your bike. I like the paint scheme - a greenish, enameled lichen coat, with charcoal blotches and snail-like residue lining the lugs. A work of art.

that's entirely understandable, though. There have been rides on which I have thought 'If I wasn't leading this sucker I'd be at home in bed right now...' My only concern is that where the numbers to drop below 25 I might have to cancel the halfways stop.

A sense of 'Theatre' brought to the Night Ride - as if £50,000+ of rides, lights and thigh restraints wasn't enough! I'm looking forward to one particular rider's bicycle being fitted with a jingly bit or two...be on the lookout for 'Els bells'

@ 3BM - I have written to Age Concern about you. Naughty boy!
@ Origamist - 'A work of art' - not so much verdigris as 'where de grease?' (Seriously Adrian, it is an 'objet' to behold.)
