Andrew has 'rock star' legs - therin lies the (marginal) difference. Mary Peters doesn't know much about physics 'n stuff either, whereas Andrew is the resident 'boff' on FNRs

Coming back from Brighton on Saturday morning proved easier than I thought it would be. 'You can take any train you like as far as East Croydon'. And, when we took any train we liked as far as Clapham Junction, nobody seemed to mind. And there were heaps of bikes on the platform at Clapham Junction

Southern staff are usually excellent at bending the rules, at Victoria the train staff are no problem, it's the gateline staff with the jobsworth hats on,

Though be warned - East Croydon can now be a challenging place to change trains. They have closed the subway which killed my normal 60 second dash from platform 2 to 4. You have to wheel it back to the concourse area and over. Not so easy at peak time without embedding the front wheel into somebody's rolling suitcase.

I thought it was open again, the last time I went through there (a couple of weeks back) ?

(I didn't take too much notice, because I don't need to change, I leave the station there).

Closed last Tuesday. Notice said it was for preliminary work on some redevelopment. There was a digger in the entrance. Looked as though it may be closed for some time.

I shall be at Victoria platform 12, looking forward to this.

Is the plan to still ride back or are people going to risk the train.......

Some hope ... despite National Rail saying there are no extra railway restrictions on the Overground - a big sign at our station now says otherwise. Short of catching a train to Brighton and back to London Bridge I'll have to <cough, cough> cycle up to HPC. Unless DZ takes pity of us Sarf Londoners and arranges a rendevous at Portnalls Road ...
