I've just come back in to London on a Southern train. Nobody said a thing. I reckon the bike ban is a figment of Southern's managerial imagination.

I took my bike on a pretty empty mid afternoon South Eastern train yesterday and the guard said he hoped I wasn't going all the way into London with it as he had only the day before received an email saying all bikes were banned. I said I was only going three stops and he wasn't worried at all. But I was in deepest East Sussex and not going near London.

I'll be going as far north as Streatham Hill, but..............FCC have not banned bikes, so you should be ok to London Bridge

Of course, mid-day on a Saturday may not be quite the same as mid-morning in the middle of the week.

I was at Brighton station last Saturday. Saw at least a couple of folk with bikes who had got through the ticket barriers and were either heading for a platform or getting onto a train. In any case, I'm not risking it and intend to ride back (need to be home before lunch).

Hah! Any ideas about the route yet? I was thinking shortest possible (follow A23 maybe adjacent to it on the west side). Up through Crawley, Redhill, Merstham... ? Oh and I've never done a ride back after one of these before. Will likely be a bit grumpy after a lack of sleep!
