Quite. Character is currently overbuilt. I blame home cooking.

TC- I have a pair of toe covers which might be as useful as a chocolate fireguard in a downpour but might keep the wind off and trap some warmth depending on how holey your shoes currently are.

Thanks Zee. They're not holey. It's a water thang. But I do have spare socks with me, so it may not be unmitigated misery...

Positive Mental Attitude may mean nothing when we are soaked through at 4am....

When better to have one? It is, after all, a piece of **** to have one when sat at a beach bar, watching the sunset, with a cocktail in hand, deciding which restaurant to go to.
Ooh I don't know it's always better to positive at times like that rather than negative. Negativity takes the edge off.

Have a good ride everyone. If someone breaks an airport at 3am I'll think of you.

Did you get wet?

Oof, well done Simon for keeping us in order on a ride that was both hideously wet and tiring and somehow delightful. My memory of our route after Faygate is a bit blurred but I certainly remember a stonking little climb on a narrow lane through some woods that really had my legs burning. And there was something in my egg and bacon roll that tasted of lemon-scented floor cleaner.

I can only beg forgiveness on behalf of myself and the others that bailed.......
Wet is what I was.
Epic precipitation management failure.
Why, why, why did the piece de resistance back-up rain jacket remain in my bag.
While the Montane and the Rapha soft-shell and the two layers below it get soaked through.
Can you tell the readers why you did that, User10571?
Well, can you?
The sacrificial marigolds-as-gaiters did little to stop the rain entering through the ankle cuff of my overshoes.
Maybe I should've enhanced their next-to-skin sealing property by deploying a cable tie around each one?

Nomination for top marks for way-marking goes to Paul Ride for his cunningly innovative use of a strategically placed front light, enabling him to cast the shadow of a Very Big Pointy Hand on the white wall of The Star in Rusper

Well done to all those who completed.

My first bail out. I was thoroughly enjoying the ride as usual and have obviously ridden in wetness before. But for some reason the dampness coming down was also getting me down. So, after the Cabin stop, for approximately 98 minutes I rode home. The wetness eased a little but the headwind was a constant. Where was that in the first 4 hours? i don't remember it being so strong. The dawn chorus helped as did the wild garlic. Thanks to Simon, as always, and the rest of the FNRttCers.

We do it for fun. Why question your questioning when it isn't?
Eh?
Sleep dep means I'm struggling to understand that.
Oh look!
It's raining.
Again
Looking forward to king prawns with chilli, coriander & lime later.
