Apparently not. I did a lengthy commute yesterday with a spare set of SPDs - going in fine (including a couple of whizzy laps of RP), going home again not.

I'm hoping to be at least slightly less rubbish on this ride than I was for the Felpham one, as I've had a couple of days off running up to it. Unfortunately @Agent Hilda keeps giving me booze, so you know who to blame if I fall asleep into my breakfast beer.

I went back from Brighton the "easy" A23 cycle path way last month, in the rain/sleet. The short sharp hill by Pyecombe(?) church, just after you get off the A23 was hilarious. Stand on the pedals and the back wheel would slip. Sit down and I was in danger of pulling a wheelie/falling over backwards. I was in company though so I made it to the top. Time before that I was on my own. I got off and pushed.

In other news, I took a diversion through The Badlands tonight. The going is Good to Firm. Can we adopt a different warning for the slotted speedbumps down there? Something like this perhaps:
