This year, seriously both rides both ways? I tend to get back from Brighton around 1-2pm (Andy, don't say a word). What time would I need to be at the start for Dunwich?

Must stop reading forum after drinking beer......

I've done it, several years ago. Get the 7 am-ish train from Brighton, go straight home to bed for a few hours sleep. Get to London Fields for 8 pm and then start hallucinating at around 5 am Sunday morning. Take 3 caffeine energy gels - problem solved!

I did it using trains for the return legs last year (along with Dan B). I got a few hours sleep at home during Saturday and felt absolutely fine on the second night. If anything I felt it was an advantage having done Brighton the night before as at 6am, while most riders had been up for going on 24 hours, I had only been up for 12.

Great weather on both nights helped too.

I took the train back from Ipswich (having pretended to be asleep when Rimas left to ride back!) but this time riding both directions fits right in to my PBP preparation schedule.

"I'm leanin' on me sister on the corner of the street
until a certain little night ride comes by."
chapeau! Would you send me the original, and I'll stick it on the blog!

And, yes, that is precisely where I tell people that it's twelve miles to go!
(it's 15)

As it happens, I rode through Dulwich a couple of times yesterday. I don't think I'd ever been there before - or certainly not when I was paying attention. The College looked splendid - in particular the pavillion (and I thought it was a very tempting chip over mid on from the junior pitches to reach the trees, although hitting against the spin has been the undoing of many a better man than me...).

mini-Hatler (not so mini these days. It's bad enough having your own kids remind you, as they grow up, that you're getting on, but I'm having difficulty reconciling the next thing to a babe-in-arms that slept his way up the Beacon behind his dad with the news that he's now getting on for five feet tall)
