Does anyone know where I can get a spare rubber spacer thingy for my hope vision 1 bracket, I've managed to lose a thick one and the thin ones aren't big enough to make the bracket fit? Thought I'd ask here as almost every other FNRTCCer seems to have a hope light. Sorry if this is a bit off topic.

wrap some old inner tube around the bars.

If you have 31mm bars, the bracket works perfectly well without the spacer widgets. I lost mine months ago.

+1 to the comments about either using some old inner tube (or another filler) and not needing them at all on oversize bars. Apologies if you've already done this- but have you tried tightening the screw on the bracket a bit more, there is a lot of scope for adjustment there?

I would offer a spare set - with payment in beer tokens, but as I'm planning to ride home afterwards (Bognor being the only destination on which this is possible for me without being too silly) I can only loan them.

TBH your best bet is a quick call to Hope. They have an excellent rep for customer service.

I think that will be it. Peter W has crocked himself falling down some stairs, and Miranda will miss this one, which is a great pity....

Now feeling a little stupid. This is on Friday, right? I foolishly assumed that (as has happened in previous years, at least according to my rather fuzzy memory) the Easter weekend ride would be Thursday, and have only just looked at an actual calendar.

Fortunately I can still come ...

I have a couple of quick questions.

As this is going to be the first ride like this, what happens when we all get to the cafe at the end? Does everyone order a full english and a pint to recover or do people have a bowl of porridge to try and be good?

Im thinking that a full english would taste mighty good at the end of a night ride .

Is it normal for people to have a backpack on this sort of session to keep spare kit and shoes in? or am i just going to make a fool of myself  (i am well practiced at making a fool of myself).

Full english and a pint ....or a porridge?

Let me think about this.

erm .... full english and a pint ....or a porridge?

OK - I've thought about it. but try and avoid the backpack.

Dump the backpack on your bedroom floor etc.
Buy me a beer - no need to ask everyone else.
Porridge my ar$e!
Don't be reticent - ask any questions, particularly if you spot a brainy person who looks as though they will give you a decent answer, ie: not moi.
Buy me another beer - it will be St George's Day after all. Knights of the round table will give way to days of the round table...
(Have I got you worried yet?)

keep the luggage thing down. I've never carried a pair of spare shoes*, but, then again, 'Teef always lends me his Manolos. You should wear light layers, and carry a lightweight waterproof if there is any chance of rain. You'll have to take people's dietary habits as you find them, I'm afraid.

*this is a lie, but they weren't my shoes.....
