I bought a half of *that very cheese* this lunchtime, you know. I will be eating it for supper. It's lovely; tastes of rosemary and apples and lemon and salt and sweet milky goat.

Simon, I thought I'd sent you off a cheque for CTC membership for the Southend ride, but I probably forgot to post it. I'll bet it's languishing somewhere at home or at the bottom of a bag. I could send you another, but not until the end of next week, because my chequebook's at home but I won't be for a while. Is that too late?

Having never done a FNRttC before, What sort of lights are recomended? I have only LED's back and front at the moment, although I do have a set of Ever Ready lights from some years back, with a beam so to speak?

You'll need a static red for the peloton and mega-blasters or less for the front. On the way there, you can 'rear-light blink/flash/blind' all you like Paulus, but 'emsemble' there is not much need, unless you're 'at the back'.

Oh, and bring dosh for Adrian's rehydration course - to be conducted immediately following breakfast - if not during.

Without turning into a 'what lights' thread ;) - one front light worth considering (gets more than a few mentions on the 'PBP Lights' thread over on yacf too) - is the Ixon IQ (worth adding to the lights page Simon ?).
I've recently bought one as a backup for my lumicycle units, but have wound up solely using that. Unlike most of the led lights it's got a shaped beam c/o a shaped reflector, so the light goes where it needs to, and not blinding oncoming traffic (much). For just under 70 quid - or the price of the Hope - it comes with a charger and a set of 2000 (2100?) mAh nimh. If you've AAs/charger already then just the lamp unit is something like 50-55 quid either here or from europe (bike24 or rose-versand).
The handy bit with the included charger is you don't need to open it to recharge and they're about 15 quid on their own. Runtime's something like 5hrs on high beam and 20 on low, even low beam's pretty decent. Left on high it swaps over to low automatically.

As a matter of curiosity - there was a guy on the last fnrttc that had the optical equivalent of a grenade going off on his seatpost - bloomin' blinding from recumbent level  - anyone any idea what it was ? - I'm sure he didn't nick it from a distress beacon !

If you're talking about a flashing rear light, I think it was a Dinotte 400R, which is their brightest rear light!

Adrian / AJ - from the 'Sunday riders'... he said he would buy anyone a beer who complained.

Think that may have been me and the light in question was a Magicshine MJ-818 Very noticable.... sorry never thought about it being Recumbent Eye Level.... will adjust or use another next FNRttC.

Adrian is not fussy who attends his rehydration tutorial, Nigel. (But it wasn't you flashing in the middle of the night. Of course, this may not be consistent with your normal behaviour.)

As a FNRttC virgin, and not particulary good working my way around websites, Where is the start point for the Bognor ride, and what time?
