Oh dear - I was going to say no - but I lost my voice. Please, please Simon!

And you asked me to remind you about the jersey ...

Apologies. Keyboard typing before the brain was engaged such is the lure of the FNRttC. I knew there was something about the 9th but I couldn't quite put my finger on it. Not only have I got a Xmas do to go to, I'm the organiser of said Xmas do!

Looks like I'm out. December may be a very lean month as far as long rides go.

And that stops you from coming to Southend?
Exactly! I have a Xmas to go to too. I intend to turn up in my smartest cycling gear and get merry on the thought of cycling to Southend.

Alas, am on a night out in Southend that night, so was meaning to start as to carry on...

I would like to point out, I do not have drinking issues...

Having just read Simon's email mentioning the architectural delights, and otherwise, of the Southend-on-Sea route, I feel that I should also mention, that according to one of my colleagues, who regularly travels this way, when crossing the Bow Flyover at night (which we generally do on this ride), Anish Kapoor's recently completed "Orbit" is clearly visible.

It's possibly not necessarily what you should be doing when cycling on a fairly busy bit of road, but I imagine that it's quite an interesting view.
