I didn't get wet feet (although Rob is free to point out that he did the depthtesting). Simply freewheel through the water.

If anyone desperately wants to test the waterproofness of their footwear I reckon this ride provides as good an opportunity as any.

Simon, for the reasons given in my earlier e-mail I will have to bail out tonight: there has been enough of a turn for the worse that I can not reasonably head over to the UK for the night:sad:

Shouldn't have tempted fate by scotchguarding my shoes this morning:cursing:

My bike is absolutely filthy from the underwater audax I did on Sunday. A quick clean of the chain is all I am going to bother with. Just hope the bearings are all fine.
I can report that Northwave arctic cycling boots are very waterproof....and once the water gets in them, the only way to get it out is by taking the boots off and emptying them.

I was on the Emsworth ride. Nothing scares me now. Bring it on.
(I will have spare socks with me as I don't recall there being a 24 hour Tesco where fresh supplies can be obtained on this ride)

it did have a tide mark - we thought that the water level had been at five feet rather than three. And the water was flowing pretty quickly under the walkway
