Simon, I don't know if this is a go-er or not but I wondered whether, during your fascinating preamble , it would be an idea to ask newbies that are on their own to raise their hand. I have this feeling that there must be some who come along, do the ride and go home without having spoken to anyone.

Well someone has to keep the country functioning!!! And after all that's what we obscenely paid, over compensated civil servants do whilst we wait for our gold plated pensions to kick in.......

I thought I had signed up for this, but it looks like I'm not on the list. If I turn up this evening, is it likely that I'll be turned away?

I sent an email on 6 July to fnrttc@yahoo.co.uk. It didn't occur to me before but I realise I never had response.

I have done one of these rides before. In fact, I did the 2008 genteel ride so I'm not a total novice.

Can I come? Can I? Can I? Pretty please?

I'm bailing folks, have gradually built the mileage up and did 40 miles on Wednesday, the last 5 or 6 nearly one handed due to left arm pain. Strangely the wrist wasn't the bad bit it was the elbow again and is still swollen this morning. Not impressed but also don't know how much may be due to riding too soon or my sodding around with bars position.

It's getting close to crunch decision time, further elbow surgery, invest in a 'bent' or, if I'm really unlucky, both. Should I feel guilty about comparing the prospect of having an elbow cut open to riding a bent?

Have a great night folks and don't overdo the drinkie winkies

Nick I'd text if I were you. I'm sure it's an oversight rather than a rejection - he seems to be busy lately, and I think he's been on holiday or summat...

Oh Ian, I miss you too, our blue and pink combination is just so complementary. Cast off on Tuesday, they don't want me riding for a while 'in case I fall off' but I'm undecided as to whether I'll adhere to it!

That's re-assuring. This is my first go at FNRttC and I'm a bit nervous about it. I seem to have got in with a worrying bunch on the Sunday rides (the Mouseketeers)......

Ha! The mouseketeers are not a group I've felt able to join... yet. You'll have a cracking time, I was way nervous but it's so well co-ordinated and friendly you soon forget your novice status.

I'm really sorry to hear this. Marilyn and I were just saying yesterday that it would be good to see you out again tonight. I hope that you can get to a simple solution soon.
