FNRttC Friday Night Ride to the Coast York to Hull 9th September 2011

As I'm no longer able to do this ride, I've got some surplus tickets going for the face value, if anyone's interested:-

Kings Cross to York, Friday 9th September depart 15:08 £14.60 with bike reservation (it's early as I was going to see relatives- however means plenty of drinking time for someone).

Hull to Kings Cross, Saturday 10th September depart 10:30 £15.00 with bike reservation.

oooh hello! If you are sure, I would gratefully take these tickets as I have none. (I was aiming for a later train up as I was hoping for a snooze somewhere but I might find a bench to tie my bike to!) But tickets are better than no tickets so if I could put my name down that would be great.

Sold, to the mice nice lady with the deckchairs. :hello:

Hi Simon. If I'm not already on the list for this, please can you add me to it.

Thanks

As I said over in the Bognor ride thread, I'm going to be somewhat encumbered by a couple of new felines, and don't really want to cart them off to a cattery quite yet, so will have to bow out of this ride as well. ...

Actually, I just realised that this won't just be a case of being nice to the cats, since the kitten won't have finished her vaccination injections by then, so can't go into a cattery.

How many are we up to now Dell?

This is a lovely route, especially crossing the Humber Bridge on the cycle-path on the edge of the bridge as the sun comes up. It is also pretty flat if people are worried about hills.

still time, just, to register.

Please - count me in; you have an e-mail

Oooh - I've got all excited; all the family tours planned this summer have fallen through ---- this'd make up for it  . I'll need to borrow #2 son's nice headlight to supplement my dead basic one ... but since I paid for it, don't see a problem.

This is probably a daft question, but having never taken a bike on a train before, I'm a bit confused as to how cycle bookings work. I'll need to get back to York afterwards but I can't seem to find any trains with cycle reservations available. Does this mean they're all booked up, or just that bookings aren't available with this operator (Northern Rail)?

Northern rail don't do bookings for bikes, you just turn up.

They have nominally 2 bike spaces per train but they are one of the more relaxed operators so I wouldn't worry too much about getting on

+1 I've used them a lot - dad + 3-4 kids, all with bikes; they've always seen us right - not even a raised eyebrow. Unless I'm daft enough to try a sardine-tin morning commuter train!
