just booked my tickets up to York through Southern Railwasy!

Arriving 23.10. Thanks, Adrian!

Six hours? For 45 miles?

In fairness, on the way there (in the company of one of the Fast Northern Boys and with a slightly different 45 miles route) it only took something like, from memory, 5 hours and that included a leisurely fish and chip stop and a call in to my mum's for coffee and cake. I tend to drift towards pootle-speeds when on my own. And it was in February, and up to that point in the year I hadn't done more than a 40ish mile day.

But I'm not fast.

After a night ride to Hull, I don't think it's necessary to be fast... Well, ideally you'll get out of Hull as quick as possible, but after that....

The cheek

However another alternative 'flat route for Yorvik softies' is maybe to follow last years fnrttc from Yorvik to Clearhopesands... but set off from Hessle (pronounced Hezzle or Ezzle for us lercals) Brough. South Cave etc...

Can I please be added to the list Simon? Train out of London booked for £8.60 railcard+bike (21:00 departure). Still have to figure out how to get back from Hull though.

Many thanks and looking forward to it!

Did you get a cycle reservation? Southern are currently saying none available ...
I did, yes.

Bu**er again. But decided to pay £3 extra to take the road bike on the 20:00 and have a quick Yorkie bite.

BTW the East Coast site is a few bob cheaper than Southern. It is identical to Southern (apart from the colour) and my southern login/password worked too. Same site two colours/two prices. Another triumph for Major Capitalism.

Oh, could you kindly add me to the list or I will be feeling a right prat.

Still part of the team !
Train tickets and bike reservations have been purchased, two of each in each direction 'cos I've persuaded the lovely Helen that this is a good idea.
She'll be in touch separately to confirm that she's read the details and to sign up for the Fridays.

We're training back to MCR; I've made sure that we've got time to watch the rugby.

Are there no cheap tickets back south from York or Hull? Tried both Saturday and Sunday (hopefully I'll be able to combine the ride with a visit to my mates near York) and the best deal I can get is £110 return. I can get a £35 ticket up, but nothing anywhere near that price coming back.

Hull trains to London now available for the Saturday. East Coast still waiting.
Thanks Adrian. The 13.30 @ £6.60 (with railcard) a real bargain with bicycle place if you book via Southern. Just leaves time for a quick half ... phew!
