East Coast is only taking bookings up until 2nd September, and Trainline up to the 7th. Where are you getting yours from, Adrian?

The Southern Railways web site has some of them available now. Mind you, the cheapest seat is £14.60 in the afternoon, so you don't get the £1 or so discount if you want to wait for East Coast. The ones in the evening are still £87.60, so clearly those cheap ones aren't there yet.

Decisions, decisions................

Edit: I found one at 15:08 for £11.50

There's a 45 miles route back?

I could be tempted. I'm trying to work out my train times at the moment

Yes, and it's blooming lovely, with plenty of convenient towns to stop and refuel at on the way.

Sam - if it helps with train planning (and assuming that you aren't allergic to cats or small children) you'd be more than welcome to lurk round ours to fill in any gaps between riding and 'allowing for contingency' later trains back north. You can even stay Saturday night if you like (there's a few random cyclists who have done so in the past), but should be forewarned that this does involve sharing a settee with the cats in the only room downstairs or a bedroom with two small boys who do tend to wake up early since we have no spare room. As Kimble discovered, when my youngest woke her up at a time that may have been before the wrong sort of 6. He did wake her up with construction toys though - showing that he knows his target audience and he's not daft.

Thanks, CL. If someone could give me half a clue as to what time we think we'd be back if we were riding back to York, that would help heaps.

I suspect I'll be getting into York around about 8pm - 9ish. Depends. I'm dithering over the return trip right now. I'll definitely be heading back on the Saturday.

Sam

Last time I rode back from Beverly to York on route 66 I took about 6 hours, but that included a loooong stop at my mum's house, two minor CrinklyNavigation moments (including a rather long hill - both up and down it) and a couple of other random stops. Speaking personally, I probably wouldn't want to hang around too long after breakfast before setting off back.

That would be my feeling too - set off once the fry up has settled and make a bit of a day of it.

Six hours? For 45 miles?

What time would we expect to arrive in Hull, roughly, do we think, and therefore what time would we expect to get back to York?

Sam

You've never had a cake stop chez-crinkly's Mum.There tends to be tea and cake and chatter.

Brisk riders with a less confectionary based agenda and more willpower could be back in York for a late lunch, I reckon. We pootlers would be more likely to be mid-late afternoon.
