Front Mech Options (2).................. & Techdocs issue

I recently asked a similar question regarding using a 10 speed front mech on a 9 speed chain (50 34 crankset). Opinion was it was OK

Now on another bike my 8 speed front mech has failed......so same question re using a 9 speed front mech (or even 10) as these appear more common. This time it's on an 8 speed triple 52/42/30.

Concerns are as before re ability to set up the mech avoiding the chain rubbing the cage, only this time I expect the difference between 8 and 9 speed chain widths to be greater than between 9 & 10

Any idea what's happened to Techdocs? I can't find anything useful

8 speed front triples are really common, and the sora logo comes off with nail varnish remover,

I noticed it had gone funny a few weeks ago.

edit.. the key for document types..

DM = dealer manual (very interesting info)
UM = User Manual (set up and basic service info)
EV = exploded view and part listing

I've been collecting new and nearly new components for quite some time (based on compatibility from Techdocs) and that info should save a lot of trial and error

If I've understood correctly, wouldn't that mean you were using a wider (than "standard" 10 speed Campag) front mech?

I was considering using a narrower one and on the triple I've found setting up the front mech a little trickier than a double due to the chain fouling the cage.
