I can well understand that.

I've had a few spills in my time, one on black ice, giving me fractured pelvis. The memory of the spill stayed with me for a long time and going round bends made me very cautious.

Never had a major off.
But still decent like froome, Bernal and Vin combined on a wet day!

I might be jumping the gun a bit as he may have another comeback, but ... Favourite Froome moments?

For sheer comedy value and WTF-ness I'm going for his aero-tuck/crapping dog downhill attack in 2016(?). It was genuinely attacking racing and it was effective but it was also hilarious. Probably not the classic choice, that would be that big attack in the Giro when Yates S exploded and Pinot had one of his nervous breakdowns, or maybe that heat-haze attack on Ax-3-Domaines in the first year he won.

Loved the attack on the flat with G, and Sagan, including the comedy attempt to sprint at the end.

Doesn't have much luck

Oh, I'm not sure about that. Yes he's had two nasty training crashes. And he crashed out of the tour when Nibs won. So that's not good. But he's also a 4-time TdF winner, plus Giro & Vuelta. He's not a perpetual bad-luck victim.

And you could argue that he was lucky that Sky had access to the legal firepower to get him off the Salbutamol rap, which other riders like Petacchi lacked.

I think the big crash was bad judgement rather than bad luck. There was some footage of him and a team mate (Poels?) on the day of the crash out on the TT course with his team mate telling him repeatedly that it wasn't worth the risk riding full gas.

"Attacking" Wiggo and being called back - or this gem from 2006 U23 champs...

More seriously his all or nothing giro attack was absofarkinglutely sublime

As long as I breathe, I attack.
It's sad way to bow out but as mentioned elsewhere I never thought he would ever get back on the bike let alone race after his last crash so I wish him the best.
