Good skills. I don't think I could punch someone and still maintain control of my bike.

Totally in the right. Spectators do make Le Tour but they also pose massive danger as has been shown over the years. Keep in mind that Froome has also been covered in urine, so some spectators do set out to do these things.

TDF '12 Tack gate?

Even barriers don't prevent chaos http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/other-sports/cycling/watch-australian-cyclist-loren-rowney-5326282

That so called "spectator" should be be found and prosecuted, he / she could have killed that cyclist.

Froome should have been commended rather than fined. Too many people think it's acceptable to be a moron and/or drunk in close proximity to a bike race, so vulnerable athletes taking action to protect themselves and other riders are entirely justified if the response is proportionate - which Froome's was.

I especially like to see (careful) summary justice dished out by other spectators (and gendarmes) to the morons - hard shoves, grabs, running into a firmly held elbow etc.

I remember Gianni Bugno around 1990 getting knocked off by a moron on the ascent of the Col du Galibier. I enjoyed his response, which was to pick up the bike by the bars and saddle and shove it wheels first directly at the idiot. Can't remember if he got fined though.

Guy deserved what he got so far as I am concerned.
Whilst I agree the spectators are part of the spectacle, they need to realise the riders are there to do a job and as spectators they do have responsibilities. Twice this afternoon spectators got in the way; one was hit by a bike because he wasn't watching and then some stupid tw@t dressed head to toe in some green outfit blocked another rider. Friggin' morons :banghead:

I was on the fence until I saw today with that guy in the green all over suit who actually stepped over the road in front of the riders and blocked the cars.... Also that twat who got knocked over by Bennet.

What a bunch of Cockwombles.

There were also a couple of other people getting bashed today too.

So, in summary, yes, he was right.
