Next ! I've been out this morning on my bike but have included in the tracklog that I did yesterday, is anyone capable of separating this for me if I were to send them the tracklog ? I have tried to do it myself using Gebabbel ( very new to this ) and altering the start time of the route (think it cancels all points before your requested start time ) but then I cannot get it to display on my mapping software. How do I cancel all previous track logs (Garmin) I reset track log data this morning but it still seemed to tag todays route to yesterdays ?

Thanks all

It's a bit more complicated than that...
Tracks are easy enough to follow, no different to following routes. No maps needed for either
If you try following a track, all you get is a little line on the unit. If you've got maps loaded and follow a route you get lots of little zoomed-in popups telling you exactly where to go at each junction.

You've still got to be watching the screen no matter how fat the line is. Even the best direction amount to nought if you're not paying attention.

The old etrex (original and H series) only had a thin line, but the new ones (10 etc) have a much fatter line if you load it via track manager instead of relying on the 'breadcrumb' display

Brad - it's split and sent back

No you don't. The unit can be set to beep at you for an upcoming turn, and if you go off course. It will also reroute you automatically if you want it to. The usual display is a clear, fat line overlaid on a road map - a quick glance confirms you're on the right road, and you get a good sense of the terrain you're passing through from reading the map. Then a quarter of a mile before each turn you get a beep, and a close-up of the junction and your path through it.

When I hear that people use the etrex with mapping facilities for breadcrumb track-following I wonder why they bothered spending the extra

Which etrex are you referring too? it's certainly not any of the ones I've mentioned/referred to as none of those have mapping
