So I'm having a few problems with my gears. When any significant pressure is put on them (I.e. Standing up/ pedalling hard) they start to clunk and clack. It's hard to explain but I'm sure someone has enough knowledge to decipher what I mean.

My question is, I'm going to take it in to a shop and get it checked and tuned (It was built by Halfords so I probably should have done this already) and was just wondering how much I can expect to fork out. I'm going to go to a LBS, GA Cycles in Southampton if anyone knows it. I decided against Hargroves or The Hub due to some poor reviews on google concerning customer service. I've checked the website for GA and doesn't really give any pricing.

Thanks guys.

My LBS charges £10 to adjust gears.

Wouldn't bother paying for this. Re-index the gears yourslf (very easy, use youtube as a guide, it is a 2-3 minute job).

If still no luck, check chain wear, check cassette and chainring wear.

Well my Brother had a go himself using youtube videos, but he seemed to make it better and worse at the same time. It used to only do it on the 12th gear (I use mostly the 12th and 11th gear for commuting) but he messed around with it and now it doesn't do it so frequently on the 12th but it has had some sort of negative impact on the 11th.

I think I want to take it to a professional more for peace of mind then necessity.
