I dont see it. He doesn’t have a huge history of gapping GC riders does he? He won the 2019 Giro by a sneaky escape and hanging on brilliantly. Probably his best GT performance was hanging on to Jonas and Pog is the Pyrenees in 2021(?).
If he does a long ranger then UAE will have the firepower to deal with it.
I think it is in Del Toro’s hands. Ayuso will wish to leave.

It can all change on the last mountain stages but the difference here is that UAE are so strong with climbers, DelToro can count excellent support.

Option two ...GC group stays together till the final climb on Tuesday ...dell Toro roglifys it . rest of the giro everyone sits on UAE fighting for 2nd and 3rd

Del Toro was fairly solid in the final week.of the vuelta 2024 . 6th at largos de CDG. 20 th on final mountain stage . Not stellar but not shoot either .
