How does he signal at junctions ... or don't you city folks do that "old hat" stuff anymore?

We have one rider in the cycling club in Manila that lost one arm in an accident. He has his bike arranged so that brakes, gear changer, etc. is all on the right hand side of the handlebars but believe me he is one of our fastest riders.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Had an owner in my bike forum with one arm, He had the bike converted to singlehanded controls and used a prosthetic arm velcro'd on the other bar (Kawasaki ZX6R Ninja), but must have struggled with the weight in traffic though!

Theres someone around here that only has one arm. I've seen him a few times, on a tourer and i think i saw him on a racer. The thing that got me when i first saw him was he only had half a handlebar, and was really flying along. Really good to see.

Used to see a triathlete with only one arm. I often wonder how he avoided swimming in circles.

We modified a bike down the workshop for a bloke with one arm too - put tandem brake levers on it, as they run two cables.

Once got completely stonked on Commercial Road by a guy with 1.5 legs - his right one was withered. Polio? Flew past me, very impressive.

His name's Mike and he rides for Ashfield Road Club. He actually lives in Ripley but his g/f lives in Gedling. He's seriously quick. I saw him riding a road race once. He has both ergo levers on his left side handlebar.

I saw a black guy missing a left leg riding along the south circular a few weeks ago. He had full roadie kit and a very nice bike including a clipless pedal (it had a left crank but no left pedal) and was shifting along quite impressively.

When my lad was a teenager he was a keen club/county swimmer. His coach (who had swum for GB in the Paralympics (sp?)) had lost the lower half of one leg as a child.

I used to take a bike when I dropped my son off for his early morning training sessions, to go for a quick spin while he was ploughing up and down the pool. One morning I got talking to the coach about bikes etc.

He told me that as a teenager, his grandpa had taken him to try track cycling. He was itching to have a go, so wearing his track suit bottoms, he set off and was really enjoying himself, until...his prosthetic leg flew off! He found it hilarious, but said that it scared the sh*t out of the other youngsters on the track, who didn't know of his disability.
