If you dont want to shop online you can get IPA at maplins as it's used for cleaning electronics due to its evaporating quality

Indeed it is. Just been watching a video of the flight recorder memory board from last week's Indonesian air crash getting an IPA wash prior to drying it out and downloading the data.

I bond glass to glass using UV adhesives for bespoke shower enclosures & use Isopropyl alcahol, available cheaply online.
1001 uses elsewhere as a degreaser/cleaner. Many glass adhesives also require a specialist primer to improve bonding

May I ask what type you use, I have been advised to use Dinitrol 500 with prior use on Dinitrol 530 (I think)

We use Bohle verifix 740. It's for glass to glass bonding, very strong but not flexible.
Cleaned with IPA, Pyrosil burner then pyrosil primer.

As @Lookrider said, IPA is widely used in electronics as a solvent for solder flux. All the electronics suppliers such as Farnell, RS Components and CPC stock it. Acetone is used to clean up un-cured polyester resin by glass fibre laminators.

BTW, any unused IPA can be used as an anti-Covid hand sanitiser at a fraction of the cost of the branded stuff the public buys. Lookee here.....

White vinegar and newspaper?

That's just for general streak free window cleaning, but i don't think the newspaper trick works anymore as the active ingredient was the old newsprint ink, which is more inky and less sooty these days.

Obviously i could be wrong. I often am

Acetone you can get from a chemist. I use acetone to remove my rubbers. Don't know how much you could buy. I only use a very small quantity.
