Just caught it before it went behind light clouds...couldn't make out the moons with my mickey mouse binocs, but still enjoyed looking at Jupiter. Thanks for that.

I just went into the garden (West London) The Moon is incredibly bright and casts shadows....quite unusual hereabouts. There is some celestial thingy at about three o'clock and it's very bright. Is that Jupiter? I'll try and snap it with my cheapo Camera.

That's fabulous, OTR! I'll go through it in more detail at the weekend. Many thanks.

I managed to capture Jupiter on Wednesday night. Jupiters Great Red Spot (GRS) is on view, the satallite is Ganymede and the shadow of Ganymede on the planet.

This is 1227 images stacked, taken with a webcam attatched to an 8 inch reflector at prime focus with a 3x barlow.

It won't win any prizes but here it is on an SX40, a few minutes ago:

[edit] Added a better version. Canon SX40 camera on a tripod on garden table, not through a telescope.

I just had a look through the binoculars and saw a very similar scene to this, practically identical in fact, so, thanks for the heads up everyone!!

Can I see Uranus from here?

If we ever meet then yes, I'm sure I could arrange to show you my skinny little bum and its 'star attraction'!!:laugh:
