so I expect if I ever break something I'll be fine with a secure bandage of tape, too.

Yep front carbon fork snapped on easy jet flight, repaired with what looked like carbon/fibre glass/ Kevlar repair tape or such like? No idea what the damage was underneath or if it was a complete break. But would you trust it?

Patching a carbon fork is just crazy.

Well it had been, and was being well used without issue (so far). At least it wasn't both legs!

Things like that work out just fine. Up until the day they fail. In the States, such failure would be accompanied by a large medical bill. Here, a replacement fork would be cheaper. Airline may or may not show up for a small claims court date here. Probably not.

If I turned up for a group ride and someone had a fork like that, I'd refuse to ride with them. I'm not spending my time looking for teeth scattered on the road and waiting for an ambulance.

I was astonished when I saw it to be fair, which is why I took a picture, I wouldn't trust it, just not worth the risk IMO.
