Driving [yes most of us do at some point] yesterday I found myself following a lad on a bike.
No big deal but it was the way he rode. He was quick [I clocked him at 30 - 35 at one point] knew exactly where to be on the road for maximum safety and least inconvenience to everybody else. When we came to a 'pinch point' it was, glance behind [which a lot of riders seem to think unnecessary, it's always some one else's fault if I get hit] assume primary position through and back to the side as soon as was safe, no drama no 'hogging the road' [as sadly some do] . He turned off a bit later again with the glance behind then a signal. Nothing really special t was just good textbook safe riding..
Like I said no big deal just nice to see a good rider. There are so many muppets on the road [on two wheels and four] that a bit of skill stands out somehow.

that a bit of skill stands out somehow.

I followed four mountain bikers up a steep, twisty, off-road track yesterday.

The guy at the front was very smooth, neat and tidy.

Out of the saddle, he just bobbed gently up and down, no sideways motion.

Made the others - and me - look scruffy in comparison.
