Got overtaken by a runner!

Most embarrassing! Was on the way to work yesterday morning and was just reaching the top of quite a long steep section (well it is to me - especially having not cycled much recently!). I have a particular dislike for this bit of my route as the word SLOW is written on the road at the bit where I'm having to grind out the last few pedal strokes before the top (I always take the message as a personal affront!).

Anyway I had just reached said wording when a cheery runner flew right past me! Quick as you like and fresh as a daisy! He even gave me a chirpy, 'Good Morning!'

I didn't have the breath to reply!

My only consolation is that I don't remember going past him so I'm hoping that he came out of one of the houses on the hill!

Wasn't carrying a bike though, was he? There comes a point that the extra weight offsets the bike's efficiency.
Anyway - how fast can he go downhill?

I've overtaken someone on a bike when I was running once. I was so proud.

Happened to me as well. About 3 miles from home after an all day ride and riding on "empty".

It has happened to me as well, the time to worry is when granny overtakes you with a zimmer frame
Ha ha, I WAS worried ...

I was riding so slowly that I was overtaken by an elderly woman pedestrian. I must have looked very odd, a big salt-encrusted man clad in lycra weaving across the road on a bicycle. She kept glancing anxiously over her shoulder at me as she scuttled off down the street.

:okay:

I've overtaken a few cyclists when I've been running up hill, when you realise it's a possibility then I always run a bit faster. Although to be fair they're normally everyday cyclists just pottering along, rather than on BMC Timemachines.......

I regularly get overtaken by a local running group in the last hill before home on my commute. Then again, I'm on a trike spinning at 5mph
