If you know what's good for you ...
Really sorry to hear that. It's a bad time for anyone to lose their job (well, isn't it always?) but it's also the busiest time in logistics, so the time when you're most likely to find something. Avoid sending your application by email, if you can: print your CV and go IN PERSON to every warehouse in the area. Get your CV checked first, though. Make sure there are no spelling mistakes and that it looks clean and logical. Keep your chin up and try to stay positive. Good luck!

Nope, no access to a pressure washer. Plenty of people on facebook asking me to go round and fix/service their cars, just no way of getting my tools there... May need to look at getting my driving licence/finding a way of carrying enough tools to do a service on my motorbike..

I used to earn a very good living fixing windscreens and using the motorbike for transport. I will not go any further as it will be advertising.

As long as I breathe, I attack.
I was with the company for around six months on and off, i had worked at one location as a production line operative earlier in the year and had just got back with them less than a month ago as a forklift driver. Theyre using the excuse that im not fast enough and it was a immediate thing, escorted off the premises etc. Id rather not fight it, if theyre going to be like that then thats their choice, as a result of me being sacked two "apprentices" have since walked out. so clearly people arent happy. Id rather find and work for a company that wont treat me like that.

Booked in to register with a agency that have the amazoooon contract for christmas temps tommorrow. It should get me through christmas if all goes well.
Unfair dismissal i would say , if they havent followed proper disclipinary procedure, which by the sound of it they have not

Can an employer dismiss an employee without giving a proper reason?

An employer must provide a valid (justifiable) reason for an employee’s dismissal and show that they acted reasonably in the circumstances.

In addition, an employer has the responsibility of conducting a full investigation of any allegations made against an employee before dismissing them.

An employer must also be consistent in their approach to dismissal – that is, they must not dismiss an employee for doing something that they allow other employees to do.

Is it legal for an employer to dismiss an employee without notice?

By law, an employer must give an employee the notice period in their contract or the statutory minimum notice, whichever is the longer.

However, an employee can be dismissed immediately for ‘gross misconduct’, which happens, for instance, when an employee has acted violently. This is called ‘summary dismissal’ and saves the employer the time and effort of going through the normal disciplinary procedures.

When is an employee entitled to written reasons for their dismissal?

An employee can exercise their right to request a written statement from their employer, which outlines the reasons for their dismissal, in two situations:"

I don't know how far you're able or prepared to travel, but there's plenty of big warehouses up the A38 towards Fradley and Burton.

Not sure id be able to fit a trolley jack in a rucksack + my bike is a sports bike  and shes too good to butcher to fit panniers onto (would have to cut fairings worth £700 to fit the racks for panniers)
From my experience if you're a good worker the agencies will bite your hand off.

I spent a summer driving 7.5 tonne lorries once. One of the best jobs I've ever done. I went at a reasonable pace, and a number of firms always asked for me as I was much quicker than everyone else. I once did a day for SP tyres. Another driver led me to the truck and told me not to get back to the depot before 3:30pm. I was finished by 12.
I worked for halfrauds once. Because i worked in a quite branch they would send me out to other autocentres to do tyres whenever somebody else was off or gone M.I.A. I think there was a battle between four autocentres trying to get me pernament at their center when they found out i was on the verge of quitting because things were too quiet
Ive never really gone with a agency before so not sure how it all works but hopefully its simple enough. I try to be the best i can be at work, never sit around when its quiet, always grab a broom when it is quiet and always get stuck in when its busy. Their loss really.

All the best h2212 - your confidence has taken a knock I expect. Your attitude sounds good. Agencies will bite your hand off and their contracts will ask you to 'stay another week'...or 'would you like this job on a permanent basis'. I hope it all evolves well for you and keep the forum posted when you get back from work, eh? All the best.

Worked nights as a forklift driver at a local warehouse.
After a hour of work last night i got called into the office. "were letting you go"

Applied for JSA as soon as i got home as im penniless at the moment. Got a call this morning asking me to go and see the adviser to complete the claim etc today. been there and Got treated like crap and basically told that theres not much hope of me finding another job soon. Which has in turn made me feel like crap.

Im off for a long ride on the bike..
Sorry to hear what happened.
Maybe try the Job centre to point you to n the right direction for going self employed?
Hope you secure something soon.
Keep up with the cycling though.
Best wishes X.
