If somebody knocked on my door right now and offered to wash my car for £5 I would tell them to get on with it. There is my first business idea, hand car washes are all the thing, a hand car wash that comes to you is even better.

I say a £5 but I would have thought a £10 would be more like it, be regular turn up every week and build a customer base, not just retail but look at how many cars parked in your local light industrial estate. Being self employed means you are in control to a degree of your career, unlike working for somebody who could and has laid you off.

I hope you find something quickly.

Agencies should be able to come up trumps at this time of year. Make sure you look at smaller / job specific agencies as well as big guys like Manpower et al.
Good luck, and use your down time to get some rides in:okay:.

I'd pay somebody £25 to do the gutters right now, I'd say less than 1 hours work (I don't like heights) and it's gutter cleaning time all over the UK. I could earn good money doing that, if I liked heights...............................and wasn't such a slacker.

OP, with Xmas looming you need to keep money coming on, take anything, work is out there to start next week, work people don't want but given the choice between wiping some old dear's arse and no money, I'd get wiping.

If you are in the Walsall Area, have you tried the TK Maxx Warehouse on Green Lane? Heavy recruitment going on at this time of year, with many of the temp positions leading to permanent for the right people.

Ill take the first thing that comes.
I dont intend to sit around doing nothing, Rent has to be paid and motorbike has to be kept legal etc etc. Ill see what goes on with agency tommorrow, hopefully ill be working quick time. As stated before though, walsall isnt the best place for jobs, theres hardly any and when there is, they get filled quickly. Ill give self employment a thought.

Sorry to hear your news @hedder2212 especially at this time of year. As others have said, Christmas contracts are about now. Have you tired Argos? Hubster worked for them as a fork lift body a few years ago, before he became ill.

As for the job centre interview, I would be having a little complain about that. They are supposed to treat you as a 'customer' and not as a worthless person. It is no longer in their remit to make you feel awful. They are supposed to be helpful, encouraging and generally nice.

Um. That link to the big catalogue shop happened all by itself. I didn't put the link there and I can't make it go.

Ill get onto them tommorrow, thanks

As for the job center - i did ask if i could have a different adviser rather than see the one i had and ill be seeing the new one next week (if im still on JSA that is) what peed me off even more was the fact that ive worked and worked hard since i was 16, ive had various jobs and always paid what ive had to pay and avoided signing on at all costs yet when i went in dressed smartly, had all my paperwork etc in order and was polite i got treated worse than the guy next to me who was telling them hes never had a job and has no qualifications who was wearing a tracksuit. Hopefully my next adviser isnt as much of a d*ck as the one i saw today was.

Have you got/or access to a pressure washer?

Millions of slippy paths, patios and drives that need a good old clean at this time of year.

Good luck, hope it works out.
Nope, no access to a pressure washer. Plenty of people on facebook asking me to go round and fix/service their cars, just no way of getting my tools there... May need to look at getting my driving licence/finding a way of carrying enough tools to do a service on my motorbike..

Worked nights as a forklift driver at a local warehouse.
After a hour of work last night i got called into the office. "were letting you go"

Applied for JSA as soon as i got home as im penniless at the moment. Got a call this morning asking me to go and see the adviser to complete the claim etc today. been there and Got treated like crap and basically told that theres not much hope of me finding another job soon. Which has in turn made me feel like crap.

Im off for a long ride on the bike..

Thats a bugger, best of luck with the job hunt.

sorry to hear that.....really hope you find something soon - temp work til Christmas in a pub isn't a bad way to earn money (done that myself). Best of luck and hope we see a post that things have turned around for you shortly
