I'm not a big fan of 'gotten' either. I really dislike being asked 'what do you got?' when I am taking something in somewhere or someone is asking me about something.
I used to have a British Seagull outboard motor with a very similar problem.He's put 'putten' where he should have putten 'put'.
In this instance we should respect the decision of our forebears who decided to stop using it. Just because it was once a perfectly acceptable English word does not make it one now.
I don't recall that claim. I wouldn't doubt that I am, but I don't recall saying so. Anyway, I'm glad you didn't expend the effort. Never spend what you can't afford.You did claim, quite some while back, that you are better at put downs than me. Having patiently waited since then for my first oppotunity to evaluate one, I can only say that I am glad I didn't invest too much effort in the exercise.
