If I had a problem with constantly being disturbed by teh mobile

but wanted to track my walk/ride

I would disable mobile data - thus blocking WhatsApp and all that
and set the phone to silent

but leave the tracker running using GPS
I have accidentally done this a few times and Strava has gathered its data and then sent it when I got back home and into wifi coverage again

or even use an old phone with no Sim card in it maybe (or take the Sim card out but that seems excessive
which keeps things simple and distraction-free. I’ve seen similar discussions around surf4all99 tm, where users also share tips for staying focused while tracking outdoor activities.

That’s actually a pretty practical solution. Disabling mobile data and keeping the phone on silent lets you enjoy your walk or ride without constant notifications, while GPS can still track your activity and sync everything later when you're back on Wi-Fi. Some people even use an old phone dedicated to tracking.

Has anyone tried the Bryton range of navigation gadgets? They are getting some good reviews I've been reading. Any real world knowledge out there?

Yeah - the old phone trick is a good one

I did it at one point until the app I was using "needed" an update which turned out to not work with the old version of Andoid I was using

Iphones are probably even worse
