So some progress:smile:

Rubbed down the frame and it's had a prime and a topcoat done,it's not going to be the best paint-job in the world but it'll look ok I think;

Will get some blue graphics offGraham Weigh's ebay store and just touch in the black that was on the lugs.The original graphics were pretty much shot and the paintwork was poor in a lot of places so decided to go over it all;it was never going to be a concours job anyway:rolleyes::whistle:.

So now to sort out some bits:smile:

The FZA calipers will fit ok and I'll probably go for a quill adapter so as to use the stem and bars I already have.

Undecided about the headset;heart says a Campy record(crc have them at a good price),head says a Stronglight is plenty good enough.

Will see about the wheels this week-end maybe to see if the rims and hubs are ok and if a ss conversion is do-able on the screw on free-wheel.

Also got to sort out the gearing before buying the chain-wheel for the Stronglight cranks and the rear sprocket.
Might be on the road sooner than I thought:bicycle:.

Oh and still haven't identified the tubing;seems like a mine-field:huh:

All I can see is that it's seamless;have done some measuring though and the digital verniers I have to hand has the following results;

seat tube;26.6* internal and 28.9 external
top tube;25.5 external
down tube;28.7 external
Plus 120 wide drop outs,head tube is 31.9 and the bb shell is 68.5

clear as mud:laugh:

*Edited.

Probably;had look for that type of label and there was a triangular Reynolds one but it doesn't look like on of them so who knows?

First hiccup though as the 105 calipers I have are obviously long-drops:rolleyes::sad:;so if anyone needs a pair of 80's long drop calipers these will be for sale.Do have some FZA badged ones spare but may keep an eye for something else.
Really stretching my memory here but I think Ishiwata had triangular decals in the late 80s, which I am pretty sure is the age of your frame going by the original colour scheme. Can't find anything on the web.

Paint finished:smile:;

More bits ordered too of e-ghey;a stem converter and a seat post.

Going to have a word with a bs in Cambridge tomorrow who specialise in single speed/fixies about the wheels and also a nice Tange Seiki headset they have on their web-site so might get them to face up the frame as well for the headset and bottom bracketb.Will also see about crank length/bb as well to get the right chainline.

Oh and saw the Ishiwata labels and they do look right but I suppose there will be no real way of knowing as I think there's no records for Graham Weigh frames.

Frame and wheels now at Bicycle Ambulance in Cambridge;Tange seiki headset to be fitted and faces checked plus the rear Mavic will be re-built with a flip-flop hub and the front one checked over for tension and hubs serviced.
Wasn't sure what to do about the chainset but will try the Stronglight with a 42t ring and a 16t rear sprocket to see how it goes.

Oh and decal set on but forgot to take a pic before bubble wrapping the frame for transit:rolleyes::banghead:

Looks like a 531 (I had one that looks like yours), ask Graham at the shop

Not to sure as there seemed no remains of a Reynolds type sticker,the only marks where it would be were triangular as mentioned above;also there's the seat-post size conundrum although it seems that that is a variable with Reynolds frames and not all 531's have the same seat-post;

file.php?id=269339.jpg

The thread that pic comes from mentions 753 as having either a 27 or 26.8mm seat posts so I suppose.2mm could be allowed for tolerances:huh:.
Also the sticker thing might be something else entirely.

The other strange thing is it only has one set of bosses for a bottle holder on the down tube,nothing on the seat-tube;so could it be a cyclo-cross or even a crit frame wher you wouldn't necessarily need two bottle cages?

Picked up the bike yesterday so have started to do a quick dry-fit(it looks on the piss because of the slope in the ground and now has a shorter stem fitted));

IMG_20151029_114908859.jpg

Still haven't decided on what gearing to go with so no freewheel/sprocket or bb purchased yet.
Also have now decided the aerodeck levers look wrong so have some old Shimano aero levers coming from the 'bay;will also need a seat bolt as I can't find one half of the one I have(sods law will say that when the new one arrives I'll find the old one).

Wheels look good now;front only needed the hub re-greasing and truing and the rear has a shiny new flip-flop hub so they should see me well for a bit longer.

Hopefully by next week it should be up and running:rolleyes::hyper:

Nothing much done over the week-end but did come across this pic which may solve the triangular decal puzzle;

weigh 531 decalJPG.JPG

Supposedly a 1990's track frame so similar vintage,not found any other pics though so may be a made-up one.

Some more progress,brakes fitted properly,bar tape done and tyres on wheels.

Have come to a halt though as I don't have the right bb tool(one I have is obv for older bb's)so will order one tonight and the freewheel cog and seat post bolt are not here yet.

Anyway a couple of pics taken today;

Shake-down run this morning.

IMG_20151111_072748353.jpg

Might need a bit longer stem but as I still may get a quill set-up I'll leave it for now.

Only minor probs are an occaisional creaking sound(prob the knackered old pedals) and the front crud which is rubbing but otherwise it's nearly there.

Rides nice and smooth and considering they are at the end of their life the rims roll ok too.

Oh and on the calibrated scales at work it comes in at 9.9kg.

Think I'm going to enjoy this.
