Grant McLennan of the Go Betweens. He died about ten years ago when it finally, finally looked as though the Go Betweens might reach a bigger audience.

Fantastic performance here as Grant wanders through the crowd..

In between here and there
Chester Bennington, I missed the last concert in London last year due to illness, my youngest daughter took my spot with her two sisters.

The whole Hybrid Theory album drove me to pack in my (very good) job! Not quite but it all resonated with how I felt at the time played it so much all my kids do too. It wasn't even my "type" of music. Of course a lot of Linkin Park songs were about the abuse Chester Bennington suffered from 7, leading troubled life and to his suicide. I didn't know this at the time.

The song in my car on the way in to resign.

Modest as well. Apparently, when he was asked what it was like to be the best guitarist in the world, he replied - "I don't know - you'd best ask Rory Gallagher".

A friend of mine has one of Rory's guitars and was a coffin bearer at his funeral - the guitar was a thank you from his estate.

Great guitarist.

I'd also throw Prince into the mix - staggeringly competent musician and the seminal Purple Rain has to be high on the sexiest track ever list.

No slouch on the guitar and almost up there imho with Hendrix in how he could wring amazing sounds out of guitar - really made it talk!

Jack Bruce, co wrote a lot of Creams finest, he wasn't overawed by Clapton and Baker .

Top track.

Covered at the first live gig I ever went to see in around '72 by a band called Billy Whizz at a pub adjacent to Northfleet Football Club (Ebbsfeet now). Whislt they never went on to greater glory this stomping 4 piece really used to rip it up on a Friday night.

Ah memories.......

Jerry - as in short for Jerome - Garcia.

I see he was only in his mid-50s when he died.

Thought he went on for longer than that - a bit like his guitar solos, which may not have been quite as long as they seemed at the time.
Cherry Garcia being one of two musically inspired ice creams from Ben and Jerry.
