John Bonham - In My Time Of Dying on the Physical Graffiti album, although he doesn't get started for the first few minutes, the drumming is magnificently powerful.

I consider myself lucky to be at Knebworth in August 1979 for Zep's final UK concert

His lad ain't bad either
I've had a pint, or three, with John Bonham.:cheers:

Great album esp' the brilliantly evocative Kashmir which is my all time favourite track.

In My Time Of Dying is very emotional and as someone who does not want a funeral when my time is up I love these words;

In my time of dying, I want nobody to mourn
All I want for you to do is take my body home
Well, well, well, so I can die easy
Well, well, well, so I can die easy

Layne Stayley - The greatest Metal/Grunge vocalist. the emotion in his voice was incredible.

Dimebag Darrell - The brilliantly talented and funny guitarist from Pantera and Damage Plan. I watched him play in 2004 at the Download festival, later that year he was murdered on stage by an ex marine in Ohio.

The Big Muff - May not be considered a rocker but he would probably have drunk all of the previously mentioned under the table.

Jerry - as in short for Jerome - Garcia.

I see he was only in his mid-50s when he died.

Thought he went on for longer than that - a bit like his guitar solos, which may not have been quite as long as they seemed at the time.

There is the old joke about the Dead-Head who ran out of drugs, and his subsequent comment.
Not that I subscribe to that point of view.

Anyone mentioned Lou Reed yet?

I agree that Freddie Mercury was the consummate rock-star. Shame about the music though.
