Groupset advice appreciated.

Hi everyone.

I've not posted much since joining but would appreciate guidance.

I've purchased a NoS frame from the early 90s (steel), it is a nice mid range frameset, it came with wheels (Mavic CXP10 rims) Cinelli bars and stem and Textro brakes.

What would your suggestions be for chainset, gears and brakes?

I'm really an 80s guy, have an SBDU bought new with C Record/Chorus mix.

Bit vague about 90s kit, hence advice needed for the build, not looking at spending big bucks - this is my austerity ride!

Hi there, as you don't want to spend a large amount of wonga I would suggest you look around the various cycle jumbles that turn up around the country to see if you can find some campag or shimano kit from a few years back.

A new ish groupset is going to set you back a bit. You could try looking around local bike shops to see what they could do for you.

Record/Chorus and Dura Ace/Ultegra bits go for quite a bit of money - I'd steer clear.

Stick to the lesser groupsets (Athena/Mirage or 105 ) and the stuff should easily and cheaply available on eBay.
