I've been looking for a cheap frame for a while now to build into a trainer bike. It's a good excuse to upgrade the groupset on my good bike. Super man logic.

I managed to win a crackin looking frame just before Christmas, paid with paypal inc delivery and sat back waiting for it to arrive.

A few days later, ie yesterday, I get an email, sorry got a better offer , I've sent you a refund.

How annoying is that, I bet if he had a non payer he would e p**ed off, I'm really suprised it's allowed by eBay.

So now that's out there, has anyone got a 56cm frame and forks that's going cheapish. Not to fussed about frame material but able to accept a bb386evo crankset would be a bonus.

Not sure how much you want to pay but Planet X has a sale on, one example.

Definitely give negative feedback annd a detailed comment about the reason. I only buy from people with 100percent positive feedback or if its very close then I read the feedback comments and decide.

Indeed , if you were the winning bid then the seller should it to you but imho if they have refunded you then the best your going to get is to give a bad review to the seller.
Very true. That is all you can do. But make sure you write exactly what happened. I would still contact eBay though....bad practice!

We had it just before Christmas , my mate won the auction for an i-pad and organised to collect, just before setting off he got an email saying she had found out it was a newer model than she had previously thought, and so wanted more money. he told her to sod off.

+1 for bad practice, and negative feedback was 100% the right thing to do in this case, besides, sellers cannot leave negative feedback in retaliation so don't worry about that.

I'd still report the seller to fleabay as well. It won't benefit you TBH but at least it will be recorded against them for any future infringements.

Obviously ebay can not force someone to deliver something, but not only unscrupulous the seller is also stupid to have told you the real reason for not delivering - he could have said it was stolen e.g.

There are 3 things you can do after receiving the refund, i) to refuse his request for cancelling the transaction so that he will still incur the 10% ebay fees, ii) to leave a deeply negative feedback and iii) to report seller non-performance to ebay. Unlike non-paying buyers who would get a strike I am not sure what iii) would do to a seller though.

You can warn the seller about the above and see if there is a change of heart, but I would be wary about receiving goods in a soured deal.

That's not good behaviour, and against ebay's t's and c's. However Ebay now screw sellers for 10% of everything including postage (that's right - Final value fee on postage). So quite honestly, if I were put in that position I couldn't guarantee I wouldn't necessarily consider doing the same thing - it would have to be significantly more though. I've never done it, and wouldn't unless the situation was very very extreme.

You were just lucky he was up front with you. He could easily have said "Must've got lost in the post", but you'd have been waiting a good few weeks then while you waited for it to turn up.

I know it's no consolation, but at the end of the day it's his frame so he can do whatever the hell he wants with it really. Seems on this occasion that includes sticking a finger up to ebays t's and c's, but they're extremely unfair on sellers most of the time anyway, so I'm hardly surprised. I don't think they really want private sellers on there anymore. They just want to be another Amazon.

You will always find people on ebay or anywhere come to that, who have no scruples, thats human nature. All you can do to hurt him is leave negative feedback. Full marks for being upfront but rather less for crap*ing on you.

Yup, this was the final nail in the coffin for me as far as fleaby goes. They've had no interest in private sellers for a long long time now, and this latest stealth tax pi$$ed me right off, so I don't sell on there anymore.

Trouble is there's nothing IME that can give the same audience, (never had any success with Gumtree* and Loot etc).

Just glad I've nowt left to flog really.

*Gumtree is in fact owned by ebay, so how long before fees start creeping in there?
