About an inch in Newark but as stated previous been Sunderland and it was bloody awful. Got out of the car walked round to the passenger side and fell flat on me back not once but twice.

Walking up my road this lunchtime, the young chap ahead was walking in the road (it's a very quiet back street), and suddenly his feet just went from under him. He picked himself up before I caught up to ask if he was ok, turned round and said to no-one in particular (Me and a couple of other people standing on the corner) "That bit's slippy!" and walked on. Well recovered I thought!

Booger all, zippo, a dusting at best, I am gagging for some snow to make the 12mpg worthwhile....

About half an inch to an inch here. I had a bit of fun on my mtb this morning in it.

It was -5[sup]o[/sup]C a couple hours ago so I can't see it going anywhere soon

We've got a foot of it lying now...more forecast for tonight, but only a few light showers so far. The milkman just delivered tomorrow's order, saying he was expecting the worst... kids' schools already announced they're shut.

A producer of rock salt has just been saying his piece on the BBC. He claims to have sold more salt already this winter than he did all last winter and is now having to import to keep up with demand.

Haven't tried moving the car since last Thursday and it now has 14" of snow on the roof. Been clearing every day but getting up to find another 4" everywhere was a bit demoralising!

What would be the reaction of the Queen if we all nipped out to the coast and dug up a load of nice gritty sand between the Low and High Water marks. That way it is full of sea salt so would be perfect for gritting everywhere... no beaches left in a couple of months and horrendous problems with coastal erosion in future years ....but it's a plan!!
