I recognised it as ladybird but not the exact one, and following that link means I've identified that was what was all over his tree last year. Thanks!

Shortly after I found an actual caterpillar on the back of my neck. Must've been there 30-40mins.

Then a tick on my leg an hour after that.

Anyone would think I'd been wading through the jungle, not out for a stroll around a business park.
