Do you hear him right? Did you ask what he meant?
Just wondering if there was some misunderstanding along the way.
Yes, I asked him why. He said that riding with dropped handlebars would mean I was looking over the top of my glasses instead of through them. He himself was a glasses wearer.
Out and about on my bike tonight I was looking at all the other cyclists, many had dropped bars and didn't seem to be at too much of a disadvantage because they had their hands on top or on the hoods.
It'll be the glasses slowing you down, you might have to get a hybridI am slower now than I was when I did not need glasses.
I've just been wandering around a high street cycle shop wondering whether to get a proper road bike to replace my MTB when I was approached by a sales assistant. I explained what I was looking for and he told me he would recommend I stay away from bikes with drop handlebars and go for a straight bar hybrid type bike. I asked why he though this and he told me, "because you wear glasses."
Is this and issue? Has anyone had difficulty seeing the road in front of them because they are looking over their glasses and not through them?
Those are very large varifocals, so well done balancing them on dropped bars.I've just done 70 miles in varifocals on dropped bars.
